Today, we will discuss the five wise virgins. To refresh your memory, we’re talking about the return of Jesus and saints not knowing the day or hour He will return.
We need to always be in expectation of His return.
- Jesus could return tomorrow or a thousand years from now.
- We need to live like He’s coming back tomorrow.
- But plan like He’s coming back in a thousand years.
The wise virgins got tired and fell asleep, just like the foolish ones. The difference is that they had oil in their lamps (they brought extra since they were not sure when the groom would appear).
The correlation to us today as saints of God – We need to:
- Be baptized and filled with His Holy Spirit.
- Let His light shine through us.
- Spend time in His presence.
- Study His word,
- Meditate on His word to keep our lights shining and our oil burning.
Just as the five wise virgins were ready when the bridegroom came, we want to be ready when Jesus returns.
We do not want to become drowsy and fall asleep, giving our enemy, the devil, an opportunity to affect our light.
Yes, this earthly temple will get tired but we can rejuvenate it by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We will keep our oil burning…
